Ward Lockwood
Ward Lockwood (1894 - 1963)
In 1926, Kansas-born Ward Lockwood followed Kenneth Adams, a member of the Taos Society of Artists, to New Mexico. During the 1930s, he worked on public murals in Taos with Emil Bisttram, Victor Higgins and Bert Phillips. Lockwood studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and lived and painted in France in 1921 - 22. He became proficient in many media, successfully working with a variety that included watercolors, oils and lithographs. Lockwood's hard and prolific work resulted in more than 45 one-man exhibits. He won many awards, and his paintings are now part of numerous public and private collections.
