WE BUY Eric Sloane Eric Sloane (1910 - 1985) Writer, meteorologist, and Taos landscape painter, Eric Sloane studied at the Art Students League and at Yale’s School of Fine and Applied Art in 1935. He lectured on cloud forms and weather beginning 1940 and wrote books on the same subject beginning 1941. His series of books on Americana, illustrated with his own sketches, began in 1954. In 1925, Sloane ran away from home in a Model T Ford, earning his way Westward as an itinerant sign painter. In Taos he guided tourists, painted signs, and learned Indian dances, in addition to painting a few scenes on board. In 1960 Sloane returned to Taos, making many sketches for his book .
