Gunnar Widforss (1879 - 1934)

Born in Sweden, Gunnar Widforss became a landscape painter who specialized in painting the National Parks of the United States. Throughout the 1920s and '30s Widforss produced scenes of the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Yosemite, Zion, Bryce, Mesa Verde and Crater Lake. His first love remained the Grand Canyon, where he built a studio on the rim. His watercolor landscapes are considered among the best of their kind.
