WE BUY J.H. Sharp Joseph Henry Sharp (1859 - 1953) Joseph Henry Sharp's 1893 visit to Taos was one of the most important steps toward the creation of New Mexico's thriving early art colonies. The travelling painter immediately saw a wealth of artistic possibilities in the raw landscape and indigenous peoples. When he later met fellow artists Ernest Blumenschein and Bert Phillips in Paris, he raved about the region's unique color, light and exotic rituals. Blumenschein and Phillips went to settle in Taos while Sharp waited until 1912 to establish permanent residence. As a charter member of the Taos Society of Artists in 1915, Sharp made the Indian and his disappearing lifestyle his favorite subject matter.
